This Is The Europe’s Largest Floating Solar Platform That Can Be An Example For Other Countries.

We are living on this planet using the resources of nature. We are using these natural resources but we are not aware of this resources that will finish one day. Those days are not so far from today. Scientists are trying to use the power that will never end. So, they are carrying on the research to use solar power. At present they have launched such a big project that is floating solar panel project.

This project constitutes part of Thames Water’s ambitious bid to self-generate a third of its own energy that will finish by 2020. After researching and by the experience of its in-house team of engineers, planners and project managers, Lightsource managed the expansion of more than 23,000 floats and 177 anchors, that provides the floating platform for the solar farm.

This enormous project consists of 23,046 individual solar panels, that are fixed to a floating board and then together to form a floating pontoon. The solar panels are floating on a reservoir that are towed with some anchor, where the depth extends to around 18m, and fixed in place using 177 anchors weighing over a tonne each.

These solar panels is now covering  approximately 10% of the reservoir’s surface area which is approximately 57,500 square meters in size. They think that it will be able to produce 6.3MW electricity that is enough to power 1,700 homes at peak operating capacity. This project will reduce 2,950 tonnes of carbon emissions every year or taking 469 cars off the road.
